Privacy Policy

Last updated: 5 November 2026

UncoveredChina is operated by Linne International Limited (Hong Kong). This policy explains how we handle information when you browse our website, enquire about a private experience, submit a review, apply to collaborate with us, or subscribe to our emails.

For privacy questions, access or correction requests, withdrawal of consent, or a request to delete information, contact our team through our contact form or WhatsApp. Tell us that your message is a privacy request. Please do not send passwords, payment codes or identity documents through an ordinary enquiry form.

Experience enquiries and bookings. We collect the contact details and trip information you submit, such as your name, email or phone number, travel dates, city, group size, interests and message. Information about dietary needs, accessibility or other personal circumstances is optional; share only what is necessary to discuss a suitable experience. We may need further information separately if a ticket or service provider requires it, and will explain why when requesting it.

Reviews. The review form collects your display name, email, selected experience, experience date, star rating and review text. Nationality is optional and is not inferred from your name. Reviews are saved for review before publication. Your display name, review, rating and any nationality you choose to provide may be published with your consent; your email is kept in our private administration records and is not shown with the review. Please avoid including another person's contact details or private information in your text.

Host and collaborator applications. We collect the contact details, city, languages, interests, availability, experience and portfolio information you choose to submit so we can consider and discuss a possible collaboration.

Email subscriptions. We collect the email address you enter, your subscription status, the date and version of the consent notice, and the source of your signup. A booking enquiry, review or job application does not automatically subscribe you to marketing emails.

Website operation and sign-in. Our hosting and sign-in providers may process technical information, including connection information, cookies or similar session identifiers, to deliver pages, maintain security and support access. If you use Sign in with ChatGPT, the platform provides the identity information needed for that access, such as your user identifier and email address. The provider's own privacy terms also apply to its service.

We use information to respond to requests; discuss, arrange and support your private experience; coordinate necessary booking details; handle changes, payments and refunds; review and publish feedback; consider collaboration applications; and keep the website secure and working. Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, this processing relates to your request, the arrangements you enter into, consent you give, or necessary business and legal obligations.

If you actively opt in, we use your email to send UncoveredChina travel stories, private-experience news and occasional offers. Subscription is optional and is not a condition of making an enquiry or booking. We do not sell your email address or provide it to other businesses for their own marketing.

You can stop newsletter emails without charge using the unsubscribe link included in a marketing email, or by contacting our team through the channels above. A link opens a preference page where you can confirm your request. Withdrawal stops future marketing use; it does not undo processing that has already taken place. Necessary messages about an existing booking may still be sent.

If you want a published review removed or corrected, contact us with enough information to identify it. If you withdraw permission to use optional personal information, we will explain any practical effect on the service you requested.

We share necessary details with the local host, photographer or service partner involved in your confirmed arrangements. For example, your host may need your meeting details and a way to contact you. Separately requested ticket, transport or other suppliers may need information for the service you choose. We do not give hosts your newsletter subscription list or private account credentials.

Website hosting, storage, sign-in and communication providers process information needed to support their services. This website uses ChatGPT Sites hosting and its storage infrastructure. Messages sent through WhatsApp and payments made through WeChat Pay or Alipay are also governed by those providers' terms. The website's ordinary enquiry forms do not ask for card numbers, payment passwords or verification codes.

Information may also need to be disclosed where required by law, to address a dispute, or to protect people and the security of our services. We aim to limit disclosure to what is relevant to the purpose.

Our business is based in Hong Kong and our experiences take place in mainland China. Technology and communication providers may process information in other locations, including outside your country of residence. Where applicable, we use appropriate arrangements and safeguards for those transfers. Contact us if you need more information about the handling of a specific booking or request.

Essential hosting and sign-in functions may use cookies or session storage. This policy does not mean you have consented to optional advertising or analytics tracking. If we introduce optional tools that require consent, we will provide an appropriate choice before using them. You can also manage cookies through your browser, although blocking essential cookies may affect access.

Links to external websites, booking platforms, social networks and payment providers take you to services with their own policies. This policy covers UncoveredChina's handling of information, not those providers' independent activities.

We keep information for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected, including necessary booking records, follow-up, dispute handling and applicable record-keeping obligations. Newsletter information is used while the subscription remains active. After an opt-out or archive request, a limited suppression record may be retained so the address is not accidentally contacted again. We review information for continued relevance and respond to deletion requests subject to necessary legal or operational retention.

We restrict administration access and use the hosting platform's security controls. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Please use care when deciding what to put in a public review or ordinary message.

Depending on the law that applies to you, you may ask to access or obtain a copy of your information, correct inaccurate details, request deletion or restriction, object to certain uses, or withdraw consent. We may need reasonable information to verify that a request concerns your own data before disclosing or changing it. We will explain if a request cannot be fully fulfilled or if information must be retained. You may also raise a concern with the relevant privacy regulator.

We do not knowingly invite children to subscribe to marketing emails or submit personal information independently. A parent or responsible adult should make arrangements for children joining a private experience. Contact us if you believe a child has submitted information that should be removed.

We may update this page as our services and data practices change. The date above identifies the current version. Where an update requires fresh consent or a specific notice, we will provide it through an appropriate channel.

Our public forms use short-lived, hashed network identifiers and request counts to limit repeated automated submissions. The rate-limit records expire and are cleared when the forms are used. We do not store the raw network address in that application rate-limit table. Hosting providers may process separate security logs as described above.

A repeated subscription request does not automatically reactivate an address that has already unsubscribed. Contact the team if you want to discuss rejoining. We keep the minimum suppression record needed to respect an opt-out.
