About this experience

The story
behind the route.

You don’t really understand Chengdu until you move through it slowly.

Not by car. Not by metro. But by bike.

This experience follows the city’s vast greenway system — a network of riverside paths, parks, tree-lined corridors, and quiet residential edges that connect everyday life across Chengdu.

We’ll meet in the city and pick up a shared city bike, just like locals do. No special equipment, no performance level needed — just a simple way of moving through the city.

A city designed for slow movement

Once we start riding, the city changes character.

High-rise buildings fade behind trees. Roads become narrower and quieter. You pass joggers, elderly people playing cards in the park, families walking dogs, and groups gathering for casual outdoor exercise.

Your local host will ride with you and occasionally stop to point out small details that are easy to miss:

how Chengdu was redesigned around green space

why rivers and parks shape daily commuting here

how locals actually use the greenway system beyond tourism

This is not a sightseeing route. It is part of everyday infrastructure.

Parks, rivers, and everyday life

Along the way, we will pause in selected spots:

riverside paths where locals fish or sit and chat

shaded park areas filled with slow daily routines

small food or drink stops depending on the route and time

Nothing is rushed. The experience follows the natural rhythm of cycling, stopping, and observing.

What it feels like

At some point, you may realize you are not “visiting attractions” anymore.

You are simply moving through a city that was designed to be lived in at human speed.
